H1N1 FLU INFORMATION FOR OUR PATIENTS AND VISITORS

Patient and visitor screening

Across all sites of St. Joseph’s, strategies are in place to be on the alert for and manage any patients or visitors who may exhibit signs of this influenza. An incident management team has been established to set and modify, as necessary, hospital practices or procedures during the H1N1 pandemic.

When you come to one of our facilities, you will notice signs posted throughout our buildings. These signs provide instruction to visitors and patients.

  • Patients: Signs in clinic areas will ask patients to clean their hands and put on a mask if they feel unwell with a recent onset of fever or cough, and report their symptoms to a receptionist.
  • Visitors: Signs at the entrances will tell visitors not to enter if they are feeling unwell.

As always, ALL patients and visitors should clean their hands when entering and exiting the hospital.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit is the local central source of information for the general public on the swine influenza outbreak and any other flu related information. Their website is: http://www.healthunit.com

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we monitor this situation. We will continue to keep our patient and visitors informed of any updates pertaining to our facilities.
