Mental Health Care: Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program
The mood and anxiety disorders program provides both inpatient and outpatient care for individuals age 18 and older who have severe and complex mood and/or anxiety disorders that have not responded to treatment. These illnesses may be recurring or chronic conditions including bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorder. We also care for those who may experience a combination of a mood or anxiety disorder coupled with a personality disorder or a mental or physical health disorder.
The mood and anxiety disorders multidisciplinary teams provide expertise in inpatient, outpatient and outreach settings including: psychopharmacology, psychosocial rehabilitation, evidence-based psychotherapies, and electroconvulsive therapy.
Regional Mental Health Care London and St. Thomas host this program.
Ambulatory Care - Outpatient Services
Outpatient services at Regional Mental Health Care London provides services to adults who struggle with multiple complex and severe mental health issues. We also offer educational and consultation services to health care providers in the region. Our services may be considered as an alternative to inpatient care.
Utilizing the psychosocial rehabilitation framework, multiprofessional teams consists of nurses, occupational therapists, therapeutic recreationists, social workers, clinical nutritionists, psychologist, and psychiatrists who provide a wide range of services in keeping with the needs of patients.
Interventions include adherence strategies/medication management, functional assessment, psychotherapy, outreach, and cognitive behavioural rehabilitation. The team can provide consultation services to other parts of the program and external agencies on requests.
Once we receive a patient’s referral, we will contact the patient to arrange an initial appointment. At this appointment, a comprehensive mental health assessment will be completed and treatment goals identified. When you determine that our service will be helpful, we will introduce you to the team and arrange follow-up appointments.
