WHAT ARE THESE DAYS ABOUT?
The Inflammatory Arthritis Education Day at St. Joseph's Health Care London provides information sessions that incorporate a multidisciplinary team approach to disease education for individuals with inflammatory arthritis.
As a participant, you will be provided with medical information about the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory arthritis. You will hear from a broad range of health professionals who will introduce you to methods of coping with your symptoms to help improve your quality of life. You will also learn about our Day Programs, which provide a more in-depth, hands-on approach to managing your arthritis.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Those with a current health card, and a diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis.

HOW MUCH TIME WILL IT TAKE?
The Education Day runs for a full morning and afternoon. Call 646-6340 for more information (or 646-6100 ext. 61046 for a recording of exact times for future sessions).
WHAT TOPICS WILL BE COVERED?
Diagnosis and Treatment of Inflammatory Arthritis: A Rheumatologist will provide medical information on various forms of inflammatory arthritis and their treatment.
Self-Management Model: An Overview of Our Treatment Approach, Programs and Services: Information will be provided on the services at St. Joseph's Health Care for people with inflammatory arthritis. Details about how to access these programs will also be discussed.
Performing Daily Activities with Less Pain, Strain, and Drain: An occupational therapist will teach you strategies to allow you to participate in activities that you enjoy with less pain and fatigue.
The Emotional Impact of Chronic Illness: A psychologist will discuss the emotional impact of having a chronic illness, as well as coping strategies to manage pain and fatigue, and decrease your risk of depression and other psychological issues common to people with a chronic disease.
Staying Active: A physiotherapist will guide you through approaches that will allow you to participate in safe and effective exercise, and will also review various physiotherapy treatment options.
Understanding Medication Selection and Use: A pharmacist will review the selection and use of drugs that are available to treat inflammatory arthritis (NSAIDS, DMARDS, Biologics and Steroids).

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The fee for the Education Day is $10. This covers the cost of handouts.
