We serve people in the City of London and Middlesex County who are or have been involved in the mental health system and are experiencing a mental health crisis.

What We Do
We offer a 24-hour crisis intervention service, seven-days-a-week, usually initiated by self-referral through the crisis line number, 433-2023. Our services are confidential, voluntary and non-medical. We help people to maintain existing linkages to services in the community and to create linkages where none exist.

Who We Are
Our staff are social workers, nurses and community mental health workers with a broad range of experience.

Our Services

Telephone Crisis Intervention
A crisis counsellor is available 24 hours a day at 433-2023 and the goal is to help callers manage their immediate problems. The crisis counsellor will assess the situation, develop strategies with the caller to manage the crisis and, if necessary, connect the person in crisis to other resources within the London Mental Health Crisis Service and in the community. For help for children 15 years old and under it is suggested to call the Crisis Intake Team at 519 433-0334. This service is not part of the LMHCS any longer.

Face-to-Face Crisis Intervention
On site crisis counselling is available by appointment through the Telephone Crisis Line or on a walk-in basis in a limited capacity at the Crisis Centre at 862 Richmond Street:

Monday to Friday
9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Crisis counsellors provide one or two counselling sessions and assist people in crisis to manage the current situation, develop a plan for the future and link with other community services.

Consumer/Survivor Peer Support
Peer support is available three afternoons a week.

Mobile Crisis Intervention
The two-person team provides crisis intervention in the home or in community locations. Assessment and referrals for the Mobile Team are made through the Telephone Crisis Line.

A Mobile Crisis Team is usually available, except when involved in other crisis situations:

24 hrs / 7 days per week

Safe Beds
One supervised safe bed is available for one-night stays only after other resources have been exhausted.

A Crisis Counsellor is available in the Emergency Department of London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Hospital 4 pm to 12 midnight Monday to Friday and 2 pm to 10 pm Saturday and Sunday.
