Veterans Care: Physical Supportive Program
Location of units
Physical Supportive has two units, 4B in Parkwood Hospital and 3 Kent Essex located on the 3rd floor in the Western Counties Wing.
Description of population served
We assist Veterans whose daily functioning is affected by physical health problems requiring nursing care.
Philosophy of care
Our goal is to maintain Veterans’ physical and social well-being regardless of changes in their capacity for independent functioning. We promote quality of life by supporting independence where possible while providing assistance with activities of daily living as needed.
We work with families so they are aware of and can adjust to the changes that happen over time with aging and various health conditions.
Services offered
We provide the necessary level of support to the Veteran through an interdisciplinary team with expertise specific to the needs of the Veterans they serve.
This program provides many on-unit and off-unit recreational and social activities for Veterans. These activities enable veterans to relax in the companionship of others and socialize among themselves as well as with family and friends.
