Acute Care Restructuring: Milestone 2, Phase 2 (M2P2)

Building our future

Welcome to Milestone 2, Phase 2 (M2P2)
Acute Care Restructuring

For nearly 12 years, St. Joseph's Health Care, London and London Health Sciences Centre have been working together to restructure the delivery of acute care within our city's hospitals. This renewal of our hospital system has persevered through multiple program and people moves, the throws of renovations and the challenges of funding. And yet, so much has been accomplished to sustain and improve patient care, teaching and research.

Between 1998 and 2005, we witnessed numerous program transfers and saw new facilities take shape. The culmination of Milestone 1 in June, 2005 will always be remembered as all Londoners were engaged in the consolidation of emergency care and the creation of urgent care. At London Health Sciences Centre, the transfer of inpatient services, with the exception of Acute Mental Health, from South Street to Victoria Hospital also called on the support of hundreds of people and we witnessed the great care taken in moving patients. Exactly one year later, St. Joseph’s celebrated the opening of the new Diagnostic Imaging Centre and the G.A. Huot Surgical Centre at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The first phase of construction and renovation, known as M2P1, was completed in April 2009 and included at least 10 major care delivery areas along with clinical support services.

From there, we headed for the completion of Milestone 2.

Milestone 2, Phase 2 (M2P2) is a joint initiative with London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and is the largest hospital restructuring project in London's history.

What is it?
