Area of interest: Surgical oncology, breast surgery
Biography: I am a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (MD, 1985) and did my postgraduate training in general surgery at Dalhousie University. I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1991, and then worked as a community general surgeon in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Strathroy, Ontario for several years. From 1996 – 1998, I was a fellow in surgical oncology at the University of Calgary, under the professorship of Dr. Walley Temple. I then spent a year at the Hamilton Regional Cancer Centre . From 2000 to 2009, I practiced in Winnipeg, Manitoba as a surgical oncologist and assistant professor at the University of Manitoba. My practice has largely focused on breast cancer and melanoma, and I am interested in aspects of physician-patient communication and knowledge transfer as they relate to the multidisciplinary treatment of these diseases.
