Dr. Lisa Van Bussel, Associate Professor, Division of Geriatric Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University. She is a practicing geriatric psychiatrist at St. Joseph’s Health Care London’s Regional Psychogeriatic Program and Physician Leader, St. Joseph’s Geriatric Psychiatry Program.
Dr. Van Bussel academic pursuits are in the areas of interprofessional qualitative education research and knowledge translation, service delivery models for senior mental health care and evaluating medical students’ experiences of eldercare training. She is an active member of the Provincial Geriatric Mental Health Leadership Institute and Behavioral Support Ontario Strategy and Provincial Psychogeriatric Team Exchange for Geriatric Mental Health outreach. Her clinical focus is on capacity development in regional communities and enhancing local psychogeriatric expertise and services. Dr. Van Bussel received the Ontario Psychogeriatric Association Award for Excellence and Advocacy (2009) and the Association for Academic Psychiatry Teaching Award (2008). She was Chair of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry from 2008-2013 and was a nominee for St. Joseph’s/ Canadian Mental Health Association’s Breakfast of Champions Award for 2010-2012. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Toronto, and then went on to complete a residency program in psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
