Dr. Robert Teasell

Dr. Robert TeasellDr. Robert W. Teasell, Professor, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University.  He is a Clinical Researcher, Lawson Health Research Institute, Aging, Rehabilitation and Geriatric Care Program. He practices at St. Joseph’s Stroke Rehabilitation Program, located at Parkwood Institute. A leading researcher, publisher and presenter, Dr. Teasell has a special research interest in NeuroRehabilitation Knowledge Translation, Rehabilitation of Severe Stroke Patients and Long-Term Rehabilitation Management of Stroke and Chronic Pain Disability.  He is editor of the Stroke Rehabilitation Evidence-Based Review, Acquired Brain Injury Evidence-Based Review, and co-editor of Spinal Cord Injury Evidence-Based Review, among numerous publications. Dr. Teasell has won a number of awards including: 2008 Physician Staff Organization Reward and Recognition Award, St. Joseph's Health Care London;  2010 Merit Award, Canadian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; 2012 Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada McLaughlin-Gallie Visiting Professor. He has been a Royal College Examiner for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and previous Chair of the Research Committee of the Canadian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Teasell has served on many committees including being an International corresponding member of the Academic Rehabilitation Committee of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine since 2008, the Stroke Progress Review Group (SPRG) 2011 Review, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), United States, the Canadian Stroke Strategy Steering Committee, the Ontario Complex Community Care and Rehabilitation Expert Panel 2010-2011 and the Ontario Stroke Rehabilitation Expert Panel 2011.
