Hospitals throughout the world are rapidly replacing traditional X-ray films with digital images. This allows for faster and more flexible access to images for clinicians.

The computer system that manages digital images is generally called "PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System)."  St. Joseph's Health Care Department of Diagnostic Imaging has completed its transition to PACS and all digital imaging modalities are now filmless.
