Patient Council at Parkwood Institute and Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care

Mission Statement

The Patient Council is a voice for the ongoing improvement of the quality of life and care of people receiving services at Parkwood Institute Mental Health Care and the Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care (Southwest Centre).

Patient Bill of Rights

The Patients’ Bill of Rights is aligned with the St. Joseph’s Health Care London’s Statement of Patient and Resident Values.

Who We Are

The Patient Council is a group of mental health consumers who represent a membership made up of inpatients, outpatients, and former patients living in the area served by St. Joseph’s Mental Health Care Program.

The Patient Council strives to work in partnership with professional/clinical caregivers to ensure the best possible quality of life and standard of care is available to people served by Parkwood Institute Mental Health Care and Southwest Centre, both in the hospital setting and in the community.

The Patient Council is made up of general members that generously volunteer their time, skills, and lived experience to serve their peers during various social, educational and peer support activities. The Patient Council also has representatives who sit on various hospital committees and projects, to ensure the voice of the patient is heard throughout the organization.
