What Specialized Mental Health Care has to Offer

In Southwestern Ontario, adolescents and adults of all ages who experience severe and persistent mental illness have access to a variety of specialized services through St. Joseph's Mental Health Care Programs, providing patient care both in hospital and in the community. Care teams provide assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services and strengthen community partnerships to help people regain independence. We provide unique and comprehensive client-centred, evidence-based specialized care with a commitment to education and research. Together with our partners, we are leading the way to advocate for greater investment in community mental health services.

St. Joseph's offers a range of mental health and addictions services including inpatient, outpatient, outreach and consultation services delivered by care teams organized in six main clinical programs, located in our two specialzed mental health care facilities: 

Parkwood Institute

Geriatric Psychiatry Program: For older adults with late onset mental illnesses, long standing disorders, or behavioural reponses that cannot be easily managed in other care environments.
Adolescent Psychiatry Program: Teams work closely with young people between the ages of 13 and 18, along with their families, to develop care plans.
Assessment Program: Care for individuals with serious mental illness who need further investigation to confirm diagnosis and provide/recommend appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans.

Dual Diagnosis Program:
 Specialized treatment, rehabilitation and support services for adults who have both a developemental disability and mental illness or servere behavior disorder.

Treatment and Rehabilitation Program: For adults with complex mental illnesses such as bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia which may require longer term follow up and care.

Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care

Forensic Psychiatry Program: Mental health services for adults with a psychiatric disorder who have been in conflict with the crininal justice system.
