St. Joseph’s lights up pink for patient care during the Christmas Season

Nov. 18, 2015

This week, St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation launches its annual year-end giving campaign that runs until December 31. Now in its 26th year, Season of Celebration raises funds to purchase care and comfort items for patients and residents in hospital during the Christmas season. For every donation, a pink Light of Caring will be lit at one of St. Joseph’s hospital sites, creating a heartwarming display that helps illuminate long winter nights for those who must spend the holidays in hospital.

This year’s campaign hopes to raise $500,000 for patient care and comfort items like blanket warmers that provide warmth to patients in recovery and pressure reducing mattresses that help prevent residents from developing bedsores. Funds will also support the hospital’s plans to redevelop a newly-expanded Palliative Care Unit, one that provides compassionate, end of life care for those with terminal illness.

Over the last 25 years, Season of Celebration has raised more than $4 million, funding important equipment that directly benefits patients and residents.

“There is a critical need to fund care and comfort items this holiday season,” says Michelle Campbell, President and CEO, St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation. “We are so appreciative of the community’s support of this campaign each year for needs that are beyond the scope of hospital operating dollars. Season of Celebration provides support that enables the hospital to provide items that might otherwise not be possible.”
