Shoppers Drug Mart announces campaign in support of St. Joseph’s Breast Care Program

Sep. 19, 2016

As part of a national effort to support women’s health organization across Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart has kicked off the 15th annual SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. Growing Women’s Health campaign. Until October 7, local Shoppers Drug Mart locations will accept donations from customers with a goal of raising $3.3 million nationally. Proceeds from the local campaign will advance breast care imaging, diagnostic and surgery services through St. Joseph’s Breast Care Program.

“The Growing Women’s Health campaign has been so successful because our patients, customers and employees know that the money they donate goes directly to an organization that supports women’s health in their own community,” said Lisa Gibbs, Director, Community Investment, Shoppers Drug Mart. “Over the past 14 years, we’ve donated close to $30 million, thanks to everyone’s generosity.”

Shoppers Drug Mart will complement the in-store program with an online Growing Women’s Health game, where customers can direct corporately-donated funds to the charity of their choice. Customers are encouraged to visit and direct a portion of Shoppers Drug Mart’s $50,000 to their local charity for a chance to win Shoppers Optimum points just for participating.

Additionally, in store customers can purchase and personalize a “Growing Women’s Health” icon; a “leaf” for a loonie, a “butterfly” for $5, an “apple” for $10 and a “bird” for $50. The icons are prominently displayed on the Growing Women’s Health Tree in all participating stores.

“Shoppers Drug Mart has been a generous supporter of St. Joseph’s Breast Care Program over the years through their focus on improving women’s health,” says Michelle Campbell, President and CEO, St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation. “The Growing Women’s Health campaign will make a lasting difference for the thousands who come to St. Joseph’s for breast care.”
