Ten mo-bros and one mo-sista joined together to establish the first ever St. Joseph’s Security Stache Society to raise money and awareness for men’s health issues.
Led by Richard Thompson, Security Services, the team entered into a friendly battle to see who could grow the best looking moustache at Parkwood Institute’s Mental Health Care Building – in turn earning them a total of $2,544 for the Movember Foundation. The Movember Foundation is a charity dedicated to tackling men’s health on a global scale by addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.
“I think this is an important cause to raise money for,” says Richard. “This is meaningful for me not only because my uncle is a prostate cancer survivor, but also because of the excellent care he received at St. Joseph’s which helped to make him cancer free.”
The Security Stache Society appreciates everyone’s generous donations and moustache comments. They were so pleased with this year’s results that the team is already thinking about different moustache styles for next Movember’s competition.
