St. Joseph's Family Medical and Dental Centre

The St. Joseph’s Family Medical Centre was the first community based Family Medical Centre in Canada. It was founded in 1969 as a partnership with Western University, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the College of Family Physicians of Canada. The facility at 346 Platt’s Lane has been in operation since 1985. In 1995, the St. Joseph’s Dental Clinic moved from St. Joseph’s Hospital to the centre on Platt’s Lane.

The St. Joseph’s Family Medical and Dental Centre provides comprehensive health care with a patient-centered focus. Family medicine is delivered through health promotion, ongoing supportive care and the active treatment of disease. The centre is one of 18 family medicine groups working in partnership with the Thames Valley Family Health Team. The Family Health Team provides nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, dietitians and other health care professionals who work with physicians as a team, each using their experience and skills to provide patient centred care.

The Family Medical and Dental Centre, part of St. Joseph’s Health Care London, also partners with the Western University's Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry to support a quality undergraduate and post-graduate education program, advancing medical knowledge through clinic research.
