2016 Nursing Bursary Recipients

“It is important to celebrate and recognize excellence within our organization – to pause and pay attention to the many colleagues around us who are working to earn the complete confidence of their patients and co-workers,” remarked Gillian Kernaghan, St. Joseph’s President and CEO, when she addressed attendees at St. Joseph’s Nursing Excellence Awards on June 14.

“The nurses who receive these awards exemplify the mission, vision and values of St. Joseph’s.”

The annual event acknowledges individuals who have been nominated by their colleagues, for their dedication to exceptional care and also awards nurses who are pursuing further education with some financial assistance through bursary grants.

Karen Perkin, VP, Patient Care and Chief Nurse Executive (pictured above) was also on hand to celebrate the successes of her nurses. “I am very proud of the efforts and achievements of all of the nurses in our organization and especially those who have been recognized by their peers as demonstrating excellence in patient care,” said Karen. “Today is a day to celebrate the examples of nurses who are positive influences for their patients and co-workers and who exemplify passion in practice, teaching, coaching and leadership.”
