Our veterans give back to those in need at Christmas

The veterans on 2 Perth at Parkwood Hospital are giving back to the community and to the world by rolling pennies. Thanks to donations of pennies from staff members, the Royal Canadian Legion and the public, since 2010 they have donated over $3,500 to charitable organizations including World Vision, disaster relief in Haiti, Mission Services and Children’s Hospital.

“This year the veterans purchased 22 Christmas gifts for children who will be living at Rotholme Women’s and Family Shelter over Christmas,” says Tichelle Schram, a therapeutic recreation specialist with the Veterans Care program.

If you would like to donate pennies for the veterans to roll, please drop them off to veterans care administration at Parkwood Hospital in room V258, or call 519-646-6100, ext. 42222.
