St. Joseph’s Prescription Shop now offers the flu shot

Coming to St. Joseph’s Hospital for a medical appointment? Take a few minutes to get your flu shot.

As part of St. Joseph’s relentless pursuit of safety, and to better serve customers, the Prescription Shop located in the lobby of Zone A near Entrance 1 (find turn by turn directions) now offers the flu shot. All are welcome – no appointment necessary. The vaccine is available to any resident of Ontario age five and over with an Ontario health card.

For patients coming to outpatient clinics at St. Joseph’s Hospital, offering the vaccine at the Prescription Shop is convenient, enhances the services provided to those coming for care, and contributes to the health of our community.

For those working at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the availability of the flu shot at the Prescription Shop complements the corporate influenza vaccination program, providing an additional option to receive the vaccine. Staff and physicians receiving the vaccine at the Prescription Shop will be provided with proof of vaccination for Occupational Health and Safety Services.

An annual flu vaccination is the best way to prevent the flu as well as flu-related complications that could lead to severe illness, hospitalization and even death. While influenza is particularly dangerous for certain people, it can cause severe illness and even death for anyone, regardless of whether or not they are considered high risk. Even healthy children and young adults can get very sick from the flu. Vaccination is about protecting yourself and those around you. Individuals can carry and pass the virus to others without having any symptoms.

Protect yourself and your family this flu season – get the flu shot.
