Surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital

A family member’s guide

What do you need to do?

Please check in with the family waiting room staff, located in Zone C on Level 1, (after your relative has gone for surgery) to let them know your plans during the surgery and recovery period. If the surgeon wishes to speak to you, they will check with the waiting room staff to find you.
You will be given a unique case number to track your loved one’s journey through the surgical process on our patient tracking system. Monitors are located in and just outside our family waiting room and outside Tim Hortons (located in Zone C, Level 0). Once there is an update to the SDCU Post-op Bay # column on the far right of the screen, you can visit your loved one in the bay # listed in the Surgical Day Care Unit located in Zone C, Level 1.
