Once patients have been prepared for surgery, they are transported to the Operating Room where their procedure is performed.
You will be greeted by an interdisciplinary team. You may meet Attendants, Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Practical Nurses (RPN), Respiratory Therapist (RT), Surgeons, Anesthetists and students. The entire team works together to provide our patients with a positive, supportive surgical experience.
Way to go operating room team…
The St. Joseph’s Hospital operating room team is one of a select group across the United States and Canada that has been named an OR Benchmarks™ Collaborative® (ORBC) 2009 Top Performer by McKesson and OR Manager. ORBC has over 400 subscribers. The team took home top honors for their start time accuracy overall start time accuracy in the Canadian academic hospital category.
“Receiving this award is an honor for us because the team is being recognized for the hard work they continually do to provide a better patient care experience,” says Julie Marr, coordinator of the operating room. The great thing about this award is that it is based on objective verifiable data. So, we are not just claiming that we serve patients better—we’re proving it.”
The service also enables the team to measure performance by making comparisons to similar organizations and establishing performance improvement goals. By doing so, they continually strive to develop performance improvement programs, establish best practices and raise the bar on specific operating room performance measures.
