May 1, 2015 St. Joseph’s celebrates the fifth annual Provincial Doctor's Day
Doctors' Day was founded in 2011, after the Honourable Reza Moridi, Minister of Research and Innovation and MPP for Richmond Hill, introduced a motion in the Ontario Legislature to create a special day that would recognize the work of the province's 27,000 physicians.
May 1st was chosen as Doctors' Day in Ontario to mark the birthday of Dr. Emily Stowe, Canada's first female practicing physician.
Every day, more than 320,000 patients across the province are treated and cared for by an Ontario doctor. Whether it's in a hospital, a clinic, a long-term care facility, a research lab or at a patient's home, Ontario's doctors are working hard to make sure patients get the care they need.
Thank you for the care you provide and Happy Doctor's Day to all Professional Staff at London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph's Health Care, London!
