Korean War veteran George Browning gives back

Feb. 14, 2017

A wish rooted in philanthropy, Browning’s dreams are coming true

George Browning’s dream to help others in a big way is coming true through the Dreams and Wishes program at St. Joseph’s Health Care London’s Parkwood Institute.

Made possible by the Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary, the Dreams and Wishes program at Parkwood Institute provides veterans with an opportunity to fulfill a special dream or wish. For Browning, this means giving back to the community by ensuring London’s homeless do not go hungry. Browning has organized a food drive, collecting non-perishable food items from staff and fellow residents to present to the London Food Bank on Wednesday.

“George has such a big heart and always looks out for people,” says Alida van Dijk, staff chaplain at Parkwood Institute. “His wish choice didn’t surprise anyone. He is always giving to others.”

As a special surprise to Browning, his daughter has made a $500 donation in honour of his late wife to be contributed to this special cause. He will be presented with this gift when he delivers the donations.
