Provocative documentary on Alzheimer’s Disease featured at Geriatric Medicine Refresher Day
In 2010, an estimated 35.6 million people worldwide were living with dementia, a number that is expected to double in 20 years. As the most common form of dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease has become a household name and one often feared by our ever aging population. Monster in the Mind, a full length documentary that investigates the untold truth behind Alzheimer’s Disease, will be featured at the 2017 Geriatric Medicine Refresher Day conference on May 3. The showing will be followed by a panel discussion with top geriatricians Dr. Jennie Wells and Dr. David F. Tang-Wai, moderated by London Free Press columnist Ian Gillespie.
The conference will also feature CBC Radio host Dr. Peter Lin who will present on how the brain works and how it’s affected by dementia and other health care leaders discussing senior focused health care topics such as infectious diseases in older adults and how to support family caregivers. The conference is hosted by St. Joseph’s Health Care London’s Specialized Geriatric Services in collaboration with the division of geriatric medicine at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.
Dr. Laura Diachun will be available for media interview between 12:30 pm - 1 pm. Media are asked to pre-arrange interviews with the contact listed below.
