Jul. 26, 2017
As of July 31, 2017, women coming to St. Joseph’s Hospital for routine breast screening through the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) should go to the Diagnostic Imaging Centre, Zone C, Level 0 (just off the Cheapside entrance lobby) for their appointment.
In the past, those coming for routine screening went to the Breast Care Centre at the hospital. The mammography appointment will now take place in the Diagnostic Imaging Centre where a designated OBSP location has been created. Signs will direct patients. This move will allow St. Joseph’s to expand service in the Breast Care Centre for higher risk patients and those with a breast abnormality.
OBSP screening provides high-quality breast cancer screening with mammography every two years to women age 50 and over who are at average risk for breast cancer. St. Joseph’s Hospital is an affiliate site of the OBSP.
