Parking challenges at St. Joseph’s Hospital

May. 24, 2019

For those planning to park at or near St. Joseph’s Hospital, please ensure you leave extra time to do so.

Due to the high number of people coming for care at St. Joseph’s Hospital, our two parking garages located on Grosvenor Street and on Cheapside Street are often at capacity Monday to Thursday between 9:30 am and 2 pm. ‘Lot full’ signs are posted when the parking garage(s) are full. Metered parking is available on the streets around the hospital.

As parking availability isn’t guaranteed at or nearby the hospital, St. Joseph’s encourages patients and family caregivers to consider making alternate travel arrangements when coming to the hospital, such as using public transit, taxi or being dropped off and picked up. Drop off areas are available at Entrance 1 and 2 on Grosvenor Street and Entrance 4 on Cheapside Street.

St. Joseph’s recognizes the frustration the lack of parking availability may cause and apologizes for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we seek solutions to this issue.

Repairs in Grosvenor Street parking garage - July 16 to Sept. 3

Beginning July 16, the Grosvenor Street parking garage will undergo repairs to the protective membrane at the turns. This work, which is required to preserve the longevity of the garage, will impact navigating the parking garage and reduce parking spaces as follows:

  • Repairs will take place to the turning curves on levels 1-5 at the east end of the parking garage (Wellington Street end) and on the down ramps on levels 3 - 5. A temporary traffic lane will be created through parking spaces at the curves while work on the actual turning curves takes place. For the down ramps, you may have to go up before you can go down.
  • A number of parking spaces will be blocked off while repairs are underway but to limit the disruption, work will take place one level at a time.

Signage and construction barriers will be in place to protect visitors, staff and their vehicles. Please use increased caution while navigating around areas of construction and be aware of contractors in the garage at all times.

This work is expected to last until Sept. 3. Thank you for your patience.
