Complex medical and mental health needs can often limit the lives of patients. An annual event at Parkwood Institute aims to give patients an afternoon of live rock music.
“Rock the Parkwood is an amazing opportunity to provide a different kind of music on site to those who simply enjoy listening to great rock music – even for an afternoon,” says music therapist Jill Kennedy-Tufts.
The event set to take place September 16 will feature The Mongrels, who have donated their talents to play a collection of songs from 60's, 70's and 80's covering artists such as Elvis Costello, Neil Young, the Beatles, the Kinks and more.
“We’re thrilled The Mongrels are donating their talents to bring this concert to our young, and young at heart patients,” adds therapeutic recreation specialist Judy Beitz.
The Mongrels band members are Rob ("Slim Sugar") Charles-Dunne (guitar/vocals), Joel Gehman (guitar/lead vocals), Ed Kaszuba (bass, vocals) and Ted Peacock (drums).
