St. Joseph’s presents Sisters of St. Joseph Awards for Excellence

Mar. 16, 2018

London, ON - Unlike the glitzy Hollywood acting awards rolling out at this time of year, the awards being presented at St. Joseph’s Health Care London are for real people going above and beyond their roles to bring patients, family caregivers and visitors and staff the best possible experience.

And the awards go to…. the Regional Geriatric Program Outreach team who are fierce advocates for frail elderly patients with complex needs, the Interventional Radiology team who are known for treating each patient as they would their own family member, and two security guards – Stephanie De Sario and Yasir Khan – whose reassuring presence restores calm in a wide range of emergency situations.

Three very different roles, yet as recipients of 2018 Sisters of St. Joseph Awards for Excellence these St. Joseph’s Health Care London staff members have much in common. The awards recognize staff, physicians and volunteers for their excellence, positive attitude, reliability, honesty, efficiency, creativity, respect, caring, compassion, empathy and appreciation for the work of others.

Presentation of these awards is one of St. Joseph’s most heartwarming and meaningful traditions. Recipients are nominated by their colleagues. Without knowing anyone’s identity, an awards selection committee comprised of representatives from across the organization selects the recipients. To be nominated and to be a recipient is a distinguished honour.

You can also learn why these individuals are considered standouts by their peers.

Media are invited to attend the Sisters of St. Joseph Awards for Excellence. Interviews can be arranged just prior to the ceremony. Please call ahead to arrange.

When: Monday, March 19 at 2:00 pm
Where: Parkwood Institute Main Building Auditorium, 550 Wellington Road South, London, Ont.

The awards are part of the St. Joseph’s Day festivities across St. Joseph’s. Otherwise known as The Feast of St. Joseph, the day commemorates the life of St. Joseph, who is patron to many occupations and organizations, including the Catholic Church, the Sisters of St. Joseph and many St. Joseph’s health care organizations around the world.
