St. Joseph’s presents Sisters of St. Joseph Awards for Excellence

Mar. 17, 2017

Media Advisory

Often referred to as "the Oscars” of St. Joseph’s, the awards will be presented Mar. 20 at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care

And the winners are… a Food and Nutrition Services technician who shares her passion for life’s beauty, is known as the “Dear Abby” of her team, and treats residents like family.

A primary care partner who brings out the best in everyone, makes residents feel special, and is a caring listener that families know can solve any problem.

An electromyography (EMG) technician who puts anxious patients at ease, is a life-long learner and caring mentor, and is considered “the glue” that keeps the EMG Clinic running smoothly.

Three very different roles, yet, as recipients of 2017 Sisters of St. Joseph Awards for Excellence, these St. Joseph’s Health Care London staff members have much in common. The awards recognize staff, physicians and volunteers for their excellence, positive attitude, reliability, honesty, efficiency, creativity, respect, caring, compassion, empathy and appreciation for the work of others

Presentation of these awards is one of St. Joseph’s most heartwarming and meaningful traditions. They are often referred to as the “Oscars” of St. Joseph’s by past recipients. Recipients are nominated by their colleagues. Without knowing anyone’s identity, an awards selection committee comprised of representatives from across the organization selects the recipients.  To be nominated and to be a recipient is a distinguished honour. The 2017 recipients are:

  • Clara Koczi, food service technician, Food and Nutrition Services
  • Donna Thompson, primary care partner, Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care
  • Jodi Beswick, electromyography (EMG) technician, EMG Clinic

Media are invited to attend the Sisters of St. Joseph Awards for Excellence. Interviews can be arranged just prior to the ceremony.  Please call ahead to arrange.

When: Monday, March 20 at 2:00 pm

Where: Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, 21 Grosvenor St., London, ON

The awards are part of the St. Joseph’s Day festivities across St. Joseph’s. Otherwise known as The Feast of St. Joseph, the day commemorates the life of St. Joseph, who is patron to many occupations and organizations, including the Catholic Church, the Sisters of St. Joseph and many St. Joseph’s health care organizations around the world.
