St. Joseph's reveals last phase of acute care restructuring

Sep. 30, 2011

St. Joseph's Hospital on Grosvenor Street celebrated the official start to the last phase of acute care restructuring today with a sign unveiling and an exclusive tour through the facilities under renovation.

“Today we are delighted to reveal another major step on our path to transforming health care in our region and to ensure that St. Joseph’s legacy of care, teaching and research, thrives in the spirit of our founders,” said Dr. Gillian Kernaghan, St. Joseph’s Health Care President and CEO.

The renewal will include the renovation of 70, 000 square feet and construction of a 65, 000 square foot addition. When complete, there will be a new, accessible entrance to St. Joseph’s Hospital on Grosvenor Street and all outpatient clinics will be consolidated in specially designed, bright, barrier-free space.

“Through our alliances, and the great effort on behalf of our care providers, volunteers and donors, we have been able to create a unique and specialized ambulatory care hospital, which builds on a legacy of compassionate care, health management, research and mentorship,” said Kernaghan.
