Celebrating Doctor's Day

On May 1, we recognize the extraordinary contributions of Ontario doctors.

May 1 marks the 8th Annual Provincial Doctor's Day, recognized by the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) as a day to celebrate the commitment and dedication of physicians to improving the health of all patients.

This date was chosen to mark the birthday of Dr. Emily Stowe, Canada’s first female practicing physician.

Providing the highest quality of care

Every day, more than 340,000 patients across the province are treated and cared for by doctors in hospitals, long-term care homes, clinics and in patients’ homes. Whether they’re treating an illness or injury, advocating for a patient, or making a patient’s experience more comfortable, Ontario’s doctors provide the highest quality of care.

To join us in celebrating doctors, Ontarians can participate in a digital campaign called #DoctorsDay in which they share positive stories and interactions they’ve had with their doctor. Stories can be submitted at oma.org/doctorsday. All participants are also encouraged to share their story on social media using the campaign hashtag #DoctorsDay.

Thank you for the care you provide and Happy Doctor's Day to all professional staff at St. Joseph’s Health Care London and London Health Sciences Centre.
