Grosvenor Street Parking Garage renovations – A message for our community

St. Joseph’s is underway with an elevator replacement project at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the Grosvenor Street parking garage. As elevator renovations progress, we anticipate noise disruption to occur on Monday, August 14.

Scope / Scenario:

  • The removal of the first elevator (located in the corner of the garage at Grosvenor and Richmond Streets) is almost complete. In preparation for the installation of the new elevator, we require specialized equipment to be on-site to remove debris from the elevator shaft. (This truck is similar to trucks used by the City to vacuum debris from sewer grates.)

Date / Time:

  • Monday August 14, 2023

  • Contractor will arrive for set up at 6 am with work starting just before 7 am. We anticipate work to be complete by 4 pm. Noise generated will occur throughout the day.

Location of truck:

  • The truck will be located on the concrete pad and/or grassy area on the property in front of the garage on the Grosvenor Street side. This equipment will be situated as close to the Richmond Street corner as possible but the resting location will be determined by structural and other limitations (e.g., trees, ramp).

Site preparation/considerations:

  • The section of the sidewalk will be closed from the corner of Grosvenor and Richmond Streets to the pedestrian crosswalk over Grosvenor Street leading from the parking garage to the hospital.

  • While pedestrian traffic will be directed to the sidewalk on the north side of Grosvenor Street, vehicular traffic will not be affected.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience this will cause to the surrounding areas. We are doing everything we can to shorten the duration of the noise and disruption, and will be monitoring the situation throughout the day. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
