Who We Are

The Treatment and Rehabilitation Program at Parkwood Institute provides specialized mental health care to adults living with severe and persistent mental illness.

Our program focuses on providing treatment and rehabilitation to help individuals reach their highest potential for recovery while living with a mental illness.

With the support of our interdisciplinary team, patients regain valuable life skills allowing them to live in the community of their choice while achieving their personal goals and learning to manage their illness.

Our Aim

Recovery is the ultimate goal for our patients. We aim to help adults manage their illness so that they can be successful and satisfied and participate in the community while maintaining an increased level of independence and a high level of quality of life.

Our Team

Our multidisciplinary team of providers includes psychiatry, nursing, psychology, social work, dietary, occupational therapy and therapeutic recreation who all work together to provide care and clinical services.

Our Role

We provide effective treatment, support and assistance to patients through their recovery process. Together with the patient and their family, if desired, we work on a treatment plan that will enable individuals to achieve their personal goals.

Teaching and Research

We partner with educational institutions across Canada and beyond in placing students from all disciplines in a clinical setting for the purposes of education. We take pride in contributing to the education of future health care professionals.

Our team members are committed to continued learning for both themselves and our patients. This is achieved through interactive participation in research and understanding the work of others in the mental health care field.

Community Connection

We work collaboratively with our community partners in order to provide coordinated services to patients to create a smooth transition to community after a stay in hospital.
