As an anchor organization in Southwestern Ontario, St. Joseph’s plays an important role in promoting a seamless patient experience across our region. Our internal and external communities recognize the depth and breadth of our partnerships in support of a better, more integrated care experience for those we serve.
Objectives

- Lead planning efforts in partnership across the health, community and social care sectors to build system capacity.
- Develop new and expanded partnerships in research, academia, education and philanthropy to amplify impact.

Year One Highlights
- Collaborated with Homes For Heroes Foundation to unveil design plans for the London Veterans’ Village on land south of Parkwood Institute Main Building. The village will house 25 tiny homes for veterans who find themselves without a home. Opening is scheduled for Fall 2026.
- Developed a strategic partnership between Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care and St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital to address forensic patients’ acute-care needs leading to an expedited, more streamlined transfer to the emergency department.
- Worked with Clintar London to paint a commemorative crosswalk in front of the Western Counties Wing at Parkwood Institute as a tribute to veterans.
- Marked a 10-year partnership milestone at Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care with St. Leonard’s Society to help forensic patients successfully transition from hospital to community life.
- Co-developed and delivered a continuing professional development session on healthy equity in practice and education through a joint effort between our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging office and counterparts at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.
- Relocated the Elgin Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams 1 and 2 and Adult Ambulatory Services from Southwest Centre into new office space in downtown St. Thomas to better service clients and patients in a more central location.
- Launched a high school outreach partnership with Bruce Power and the Saugeen Ojibway Nation to bring students on-site to learn about health care, science and technical careers stemming from medical isotope production. This initiative was spearheaded by Molecular Imaging and Theranostics, Lawson and London Health Sciences Centre.
- Developed a strategic partnership between our Care Partnership Office and the Lawson Association of Fellows and Students to deliver a seminar on how to meaningfully involve people with lived experience in research and clinical work.
