Self-Book Breast Screening at St. Joseph's Hospital (OBSP)
Individuals who qualify for the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) and who choose to have their screening appointment at St. Joseph’s Hospital, are now able to schedule and manage their screening appointments through an online self-service appointment booking system. This system allows patients to book, change, or cancel their appointments online and receive e-mail appointment confirmation and reminders.
Who qualifies for the Ontario Breast Screening Program?
OBSP offers breast cancer screening to individuals that meet the following criteria:
- between the ages of 40 – 74 years
- have no breast cancer symptoms
- have no personal history of breast cancer
- have not had a mastectomy
- if transfeminine, have used feminizing hormones for at least five years in a row
- have not had a screening mammogram within the last 11 months
If you do not meet the OBSP criteria, please ask your family doctor to send a referral for a breast screening or assessment appointment. Referrals from family doctors will be scheduled by St. Joseph’s patient scheduling staff who will send the appointment time and date to your family doctor’s office. Please contact your family doctor if you have any questions about an appointment requested by them.

What do I need to book an appointment?
You do not need a physician referral to schedule an OBSP screening appointment. You will need the following information to complete the online booking:
Your personal information; name, address, phone number, date of birth
- A valid OHIP health card
- An active email address
- If you have a family doctor, their name, office address and phone number.
- If you don’t have a family doctor, you can still book an appointment—the OBSP program assigns a regional physician to cover patients without one.
What if there are no appointments available when I need one?
You can book your next appointment up to 14 months in advance , however the demand for OBSP screening appointments is high. If an appointment is not available on the date or time you prefer, you can:
- Check the schedule regularly as new appointments may become available due to cancellations or added appointment times.

What if I need to change or cancel my appointment?
If you scheduled your appointment through the self-scheduling system and:
- Your appointment is greater than 48 hours away: Use the cancellation link in your confirmation email to cancel your current appointment, then rebook using the online self-service appointment booking page.
Your appointment is within the next 48 hours: Please call St. Joseph’s OBSP Patient Scheduling Office directly to cancel or reschedule: 519-646-6100 ext. 64603.

Can I book other appointments at St. Joseph’s online?
Currently, online booking is only available for the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP). If you have questions about other appointments, please contact the clinic directly or your family doctor.
