This resource library was created by health care professionals at St. Joseph's Health Care London. Our aim is to connect you
and your family with the information and tools you need. Here, you can search for information by the program, title, or topic.
At this time we are piloting resources for two areas of care: Pain Management and Spinal Cord Injury. We will
be assessing the user experience with these resources over the coming weeks, which will help to inform our
process for building content and expanding the resource library to additional areas of care. Resources that
appear in the library are developed guided by the principles of patient and caregiver engagement and co-design.

Bladder Care
Online Course
This is an online learning course to learn about how spinal cord injury can cause changes to how your urinary system works. The way you go to the bathroom will be different, but with what you learn in rehab, plus time and trial and error, you’ll be able to master your bladder program so it doesn’t keep you from enjoying life.

Bowel Care
Online Course
This is an online learning course to learn about your bowel program. This will include a routine for emptying your bowel on a regular schedule using a technique called digital stimulation. You may use suppositories, laxatives or other medications.

Mobility: Physical Activity

This is an online learning course to learn how to get physically active so you can improve your fitness, health and quality of life.

Mobility: Using a Manual Wheelchair

This is an online learning course to learn how to get the most out of your manual wheelchair by working with therapists and vendors to choose a chair that’s right for you, developing your wheelchair skills, and learning how to problem-solve when you encounter an obstacle

Nutrition and Swallowing
Online Course
This is an online learning course to learn about how a spinal cord injury can affect many body systems, like digestion, skin and bones. Eating the rights foods every day, and in the proper amounts, will help you get the essential nutrients your body needs to work at its best and stay healthy over time.

Pain
Online Course
This is an online learning course to teach you about two major types of pain experienced by people with spinal cord injury: normal or nociceptive pain, and pain caused by damage to the nervous system, called neuropathic or “nerve” pain.

Sexual Health
Online Course
This is a course to learn about how how you can enjoy and express your sexuality after a spinal cord injury; by understanding and knowing your body, being open to exploring new possibilities, and working on your relationships.

Skin Care
Online Course
This is an online learning course to learn about how spinal cord injury can cause changes to the way your skin works. You may have reduced sensation, and you may not be able to shift your weight as well or as often as before.
