Drop-in centre

The Patient Council, in conjunction with the Family Advisory Council, and Volunteer Services, help to facilitate the patient drop-in centres. They are located in the downtown space at Parkwood Institute Mental Health Care Building, and in the Wellness Centre at Southwest Centre. The drop-in centres are open to all inpatients, and they are a safe and welcoming space, where patients can take part in many different activities.

Patient Council works in partnership with the organization to facilitate special events, such as the Community Conversation on Housing which was hosted by Patient and Family Councils in May 2019.  Patient Council has also partnered with therapeutic recreation staff, to assist with special events and themed programs for patients, such as the fall fair.

Monthly meetings

The Patient Council meets monthly, except for the month of August. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. The Council often books guest speakers to present on a variety of different topics, and who may be seeking input and feedback from the council members.
