New and Emerging Leaders Program

The Centre for Faculty Development’s New and Emerging Academic Leaders Program (NEAL) is now accepting applications for 2019-2020.  We invite applications from individuals, both nationally and internationally, with faculty appointments in Faculties of Medicine or Health Sciences.

Please submit your completed application package by April 19, 2019 for Early Bird Registration Rate or by June 7, 2019

The goal of the NEAL program is to foster a productive, visionary and collaborative academic leader in the Academic Health Science Network. Participants will become members of an interdisciplinary community of leaders who have the mindsets and capabilities to successfully lead their research, education, division or other academic unit.

LHSC Learning Hub

The Learning Hub is a curated repository of 'learning assets' (videos, articles, book summaries, job aids, workbooks, team toolkits etc.) on a number of topics including Emotional Intelligence, Change Leadership and Healthy Workplace. It provides continuous learning opportunities for individuals to learn and build their capabilities.

Management Principles for Physicians

Date: Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3, 2019
Location: Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre; 551 Windermere Road, London, Ontario, Canada

You are an accomplished and committed physician who is considering or have been appointed to a leadership role within your health care organization or practice group. In your new role as a physician leader, you are now expected to understand and apply management concepts (such as strategic planning, financial statement analysis, cost accounting and business plan development) that were not taught in medical school or your postgraduate training.

Enrol in this program to learn how these management concepts can help you as a physician leader.

Canadian Conference on Physician Leadership 2019

Each year St Joseph's Health Care, London, London Health Sciences Centre and the Professional Staff Organization (PSO) collaborate to offer professional staff members a unique opportunity to attend Canada's most important physician leadership conference, the Canadian Conference on Physician Leadership presented annually by the Canadian Society of Physician Executives. This year’s conference on "Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement: The Leadership Challenge” will be held April 26-27, 2019 at The Queen Elizabeth Fairmont Hotel, Montreal Quebec.

Every December a Call of Applicants will go to all Professional Staff. The hospitals and the PSO will share the cost of registration (not including the pre-conference courses) for up to twelve (12) Professional Staff to attend the conference. You do not have to be in a leadership position to apply, but preference will be given to staff interested in leadership within the organizations. If you apply and are selected you will be responsible for the cost of accommodation and travel but your registration will be covered.

PSO Leadership Development Bursary

The call for applications will occur each academic year in early April and a review of applications will occur at the PSO Executive meeting.

The PSO has allocated $20, 000 for disbursement to applicants applying for leadership development programs in this upcoming academic year 2019-2020
