TMI Gives

For nearly a decade, employees at Trudell Medical International have raised funds for care programs at St. Joseph’s and helped to put patients first.

Patient first is one of Trudell Medical International’s core values. And for the nearly 300 employees working at their London, Ontario head office, these values are more than just words on a page, they are ingrained in the culture of this local company.

Publicly, there's no greater demonstration of how the company lives this value than TMI Gives, the company’s employee giving program established nearly a decade ago.

And St. Joseph’s Health Care London is honoured to be a recipient of their support since 2017.

Since that time, TMI Gives has donated more than $105,000 to St. Joseph’s breast and mental health care programs.

“St. Joseph’s has a great reputation for care, innovation and patient experience, and that relates back to our values,” says Ian Heynen, President, Trudell Medical International. “There is a strong alignment between our culture and values of patient first, innovation, integrity, trust and duty and what St. Joseph’s is all about – it’s a good fit.”

TMI Gives is coordinated and supported by the company’s Human Resources team and operationalized by a 10-member committee. The Committee works with their colleagues to identify the annual beneficiaries, which is established through a company-wide vote.

“We are focused on local – in the community in which we operate,” says Marwa Abdulhamid, Director, Human Resources. “As a company, we do have an international reach, but we re-invest in our local environment and those that touch the lives of our employees.”

The TMI Gives Committee enthusiastically creates fundraising opportunities for their colleagues. From barbeques and 50/50 draws to silent auctions and raffles, numerous events are scheduled throughout the year to help raise funds. The activities have a spin-off effect in building team engagement and culture. Employees can also contribute funds through direct donation made through payroll deduction.

What stands out for Heynen, who has recently joined the company, is how TMI Gives is driven by employees and how it reflects their commitment to the organization’s culture and the broader community.

Abdulhamid agrees.

“It’s really inspiring to watch this all come together each year, and to see how connected our employees feel to organizations such as St. Joseph’s,” she says.
