A workshop on helping individuals face serious illness
Featuring palliative care physicians Dr. Sammy Winemaker and Dr. Hsien Seow
Ontario Health West, in partnership with St. Joseph’s Health Care London’s Palliative Care Program invites clinical staff, patients, families and local health care providers to ‘The Waiting Room Revolution’ — a powerful, practical workshop focused on improving how we support patients and families who are facing serious illness.
This event explores how earlier, more meaningful conversations can transform care experiences— reducing uncertainty, strengthening trust and helping patients as well as their families, feel heard, supported and prepared.

Location: Auditorium (B2-109), Parkwood Institute Main Building, 550 Wellington Rd., London, ON
Afternoon session: 2 to 4 pm (For patients, families and members of the public)
Designed for patients and families/family caregivers, this session offers insight, reflection and practical tools to help navigate serious illness and care decisions with confidence.
Evening session: 5:30 to 7:30 pm (For community health care providers)
Geared toward primary care providers, nurse practitioners and community partners, this session highlights how health care teams can integrate compassionate, proactive conversations into everyday practice. In addition to a workshop presentation, local community agencies/health care providers will be on-site to share resources.
Health care providers will leave with practical strategies, shared language and community connections that support better patient experiences.
5:30 pm – Check-in and engagement with local agencies
6 to 7 pm – Workshop presentation
7 to 7:30 pm – Book signing, networking, engagement with local agencies
